This project was made by Indo-Irish Muslim Illustrator Saudah Mukadam as her Final Major Project for her BA Illustration course.

A passionate believer in the use of stories to bridge divides, she wanted to make a piece that would introduce both Muslism and Non-Muslims to aspects of Islamic History through its notable figures.

While developing this project, Mukadam wanted to highlight figures who were not from Arabia or already well known, as there is the common misconception that Islamic history has been confined to the Near and Middle East. She also wanted to highlight British Muslims in her work.

Having been raised in the United Kingdom where being a 'White Muslim' seemed like a modern phenomena to Muslims and Non-Muslims alike, it was important to her to show how long the British Muslim community has existed in the United Kingdom.
